Good to know

FAQs Q. Where exactly is the cabin located? A. We’re in Black Hawk, Colorado (Gilpin County)—a mountain setting with easy access to Black Hawk and Central City, plus quick drives to Golden Gate Canyon State Park and other Front Range favorites. Q. How close are the Black Hawk / Central City casinos? A. Very close—close enough for an easy evening out, while still being far enough away to come home to quiet and dark skies. Q. Is the road access easy? Do I need AWD/4WD? A. In the summer, most vehicles do fine. In the winter or during snow/ice, AWD/4WD is recommended; conditions can change quickly in the mountains. If it is November thru May, plan like a local (tires matter as much as drivetrain). Q. Is it dog-friendly? Yes—dogs are welcome. We ask guests to follow the house rules (e.g., clean up after pets, respect furniture policies if listed, and keep barking under control—mountain quiet is part of the magic). Q. Is there an EV charger on site? A. Yes—EV-friendly charging is available, which is especially handy in a mountain area where public options can be limited. Q. How’s the Wi-Fi and cell service? A/ Wi-Fi is set up for real use (streaming + remote work). Cell coverage can vary by carrier in the mountains—some spots are great, others are “walk a few steps” territory. Q. How far is Golden Gate Canyon State Park? A. About 10 minutes—perfect for hiking, wildlife spotting, and quick nature breaks without a long drive. Q. What ski areas are nearby? A. Easy day trips include Eldora, plus other Front Range options depending on conditions and what kind of skiing you like (quick laps vs. full-day resort). Q. Is parking easy? Can we bring multiple vehicles? A. Parking is available on-site. If you’re coming with multiple vehicles, arrive with mountain parking habits (space awareness, snow considerations in winter). Q. What’s the best way to get the lowest price? A. Book direct here. You’ll see real-time availability and get the best pricing without platform service fees.

Other Details to Note

In the winter, our plow service does their best to keep the driveway cleared of snow. However, depending on your arrival/departure time, we can't always guarantee the driveway will be cleared. Therefore please be prepared for snow, it can easily disrupt plans! You will need AWD or 4x4 to access the property from Nov through Apr. The roads are well maintained but with an elevation of 9,200 feet snow can and will come at any time. We want you to travel safe and enjoy your stay!

This was a great cabin close to Denver making it an easy short trip from the city. They were even flexible and allowed a late checkout. The space was clean and comfortable. Thank you for letting us stay!

An incredibly peaceful stay! With very clear instructions and tips, check in was simple. We felt right at home from the second we walked in. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The area is very peaceful and secluded, yet the local towns were easily accessible. I highly recommend this cabin!

We absolutely loved our stay! The cabin was beautiful and perfect located - 10 minutes from town but peaceful and private. The views were stunning, and the host was wonderful. Great property all around - can't wait to go back!

Once you leave downtown Black Hawk and peak-to-peak highway (CO-119) you will be driving on unpaved road. The road is well-maintained and plowed regularly, but an all-wheel drive vehicle is strongly recommended during the winter months. Roadside parking is not allowed anywhere in the neighborhood, so please be sure to park in the driveway of the property. Please note, if it is snowing when you arrive or it has snowed recently and plow service has not yet cleared the driveway, you may need to park at the bottom of the drive and walk up to the Chalet. It will likely be icy under the snow, so please take care when walking up.
